I am using 'Thermofit Pro" software for the post processing of images after completing the pre-image processing in MATLAB. Since the input images in 'Thermofit Pro' are in Integer (16 bit) format , float format and reverse format. I got stucked with saving the double type image from MATLAB to either of the above format. So i would like to request you to guide me how can we save the double type image to Integer(16bit) format or float format.

use int8 function to convert double to integer, and then can use imwrite in order to save particular image.
You can use uint16() to convert double to unsigned integer (16bit) or single() to convert double to float.
Thanks @ Neha and Gabor for your responses. I was wondering about to store the images after conversion from double to int 16 or float type, so that there will not be any changes in the raw data. For your information, i am using the image which contains the thermal data. Some researchers suggest me to use the *.img format while saving the image, but unfortunately there is not such a option in MATLAB. Any guidenace to resolve this issue?
If you want to save it as image, I would suggest
imwrite(yourdata, 'filename.tiff', 'Compression', 'none');
Note: If the data is single, imwrite converts to double before writing to a TIFF file. So maybe better to stick to uint16.
@ Gabor Kurdi: Thank you very much for your guidance. The above commands really works but i wonder why it is limited with MATLAB only? Saving the image in tiff format and loading back to MATLAB works with no losses in the temperature data. But when i open the same image out of MATLAB (with other software), only the black/blue screen appear without any image information. Any idea?
I guess it is because of the 16bit/pixel format. Many image viewer convert it to 8bit/pixel before display it.
