I am working to form a fiber by mixing the polycaprolactone (PCL) and DMF. The problem is the solvent DMF, takes long time to dry. How can we make it to dry faster?
To force DMF to dry quicker heat it up (or even boil). If you can form your fibers at an elevated temperature close to the boiling point temperature of both solvents.
isuggest U wash your polymers with waters for a few times,and then ethanol, then dry your polymers under vacuo.
Dear Dr.Majewski, let me inform u that, i am heating the bland of these two chemicals in 80 .C until the polymer doesn't dissolve with solvent. after dissolving it i bring down in room temperature before spinning. now my question is should i spin it at high temperature?
Deepak, depending on your substrate you can heat it up on a hotplate before deposition of your polymer, as well.
Is the use of DMF necessary for your work? In case, if not, try chloroform as alternative solvent.
I have no any boundaries to change the chemical if it is not toxic for human health. i will see on it. Thank you so much.
