I have applied the ARB process on Al 5083 aluminium alloy. This resulted in the grains to become ultra fine. and consequently the corrosion resistance has increased in comparison with the as received specimen which was annealed. The major precipitations in this type of alloys are Al3Mg2 which are anodic type.
Ultrafine grains favors the formation of passive layer which resists corrosion. The formation of quick passive layer is a dominating factor for corrosion resistance. It is unclear from the question that precipitate forms due to ARB or it is presently initially in the as-received alloy.

What technique have you used to state that there is a corrosion imrpovement after the ARB process? Or is it supposed to increase corrosion resistance? Generally, electrochemical impedance is an adequate technique to assess corrosion resistance of layers deposited or formed on metals.
The proper technique is EIS which can indicate and determine the corrosion resistance of your sample before and after applying the ARB process. Also, you are in need to do surface characterization using SEM , EDS and XRD to specify the microstructure and the chemical composition of your sample surface.
