I investigate the thermal properties of an asphalt and I need to measure the thermal conductivity.
The problem is that I can't get plane surface because of the rugosity of the material. Hence, I am wondering that the values obtained with common method (such as hot guarded plate) could be unreliable...
There are two possibilities to measure thermal conductivity in your case first in the case you have you can take mean cross section of the sample in the calculaulations but it's not a recommended way to apply. The second choice is to make a block of rectangular or cylinderica shape at a low temperature and use to make the measurements
