I have synthesized a new materials Sr5(VO4)3I2 but I don't have any reference to prove that this is the right materials. Only I have found relatively close materials is Sr5(VO4)3Cl. So my question is how can I convince in my result and discussion section that this is the right structure and all the xrd peaks are related tho this new materials.

X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) is a rapid analytical technique primarily used for phase identification of a crystalline material and can provide information on unit cell dimensions. The diffraction pattern of complexes are recorded between 2q ranging from 10° to 80°. The particle size of the samples is estimated using the Scherrer’s formula. According to Scherrer’s equation, the particle size is given by t = 0.9l/Bcosq. The particle size corresponding to each diffraction maxima are determined from the measurement of the half width of the diffraction peak. Lattice parameter for simple cubic crystal structure is determined by a2 = l2 (h2 +k2 +l2) / 4sin2q. Than the XRD patterns confirmed the nature of material (crystalline or amorphous) and plane mach to new material compound name feed in JCPDS software and find the PDF file related material.
Is your material is single crystal or powder? Frist do crystal solution using EXP2014 and Do the reitveld refinement to know crystal unit cell, space group and index. Also do the FTIR to know molecular bonding.
