I carried out portable penetration test and wanted to find out shear wave velocity and bearing capacity. Most of the papers i read only gives relation between N value of SPT test and shear wave velocity. Is there any relation formula or relation between the calculation of bearing capacity from SPT test and portable penetration test? Can we calculate shear wave velocity from portable penetration test blows no like that of SPT.

If you mean pocket penetrometer or pocket vane shear test, there are lots of relationships which yield the soil shear strength based on the results of these tests. However as these kind of devices yield undrained shear strength of soils, the short term bearing capacity of soil could be calculated. Measuring the "Cu" of soil, you could calculate the "qu" and "Vs" based on this factor. The best ref. for these kind of correlation are publications of Prof. Paul W. Mayne.

If you have a possibility to correlate the data from portable penetration test with Nspt from usual SPT test, indirectly, using a diagrame for estimation of angle of internal friction or bearing capacity factors you can calculate the bearing capacity for example with Terzaghi method, using the diagrame of Peck-Hanson and Thorburn.
