How do we calculate the crystallite size of the sample using XRD?

Calculation Tutorial:

STEP1: Open the XRD graph of the material, which is obtained from the instrument.

STEP2: Now zoom on the area for which you want to calculate the crystallite size and note down the angle at which peak is shown and peak Full Width at Half Maximum (FWHM).

Thank you too much Dr SILAS DERENZO Did you mean the crystal size is depend on the peaks no matter for which phase its belong ?

I didn't say that. I only say that If the material is crystalline you Will have the picks in the same position. As much crystalline higher the Peak If you don't have peak the material is amorph.. bit If you have two particles of the same material with different sizes the Will presente the same peaks since their crystallites the Basic structure is similar. If you have peaks different for the same substance that IS because you have polymorphsm. In this case If you have a sample with two different phases on It you Will find peaks of both phases
