One of the losses in Sudan to be caused by the construction and operation of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) is the loss of recession agriculture on the sides of the Blue Nile in Sudan. Hence, I want to post the following three questions:
1) Is there any information on the contribution of recession agriculture to agricultural Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in Sudan?
2) If so, is there any distinction between recession agriculture on the Blue Nile and recession agriculture on the White Nile?
3) Finally, is there is any global database in which statistics on recession agriculture are provided?

I think that the FAO's AQUASTAT database http://www.fao.org/aquastat/en/ has some limited metadata on spate/recession irrigation probably in terms of irrigable area.

They helpful, especially the report on spate irrigation potential in horn of Africa, which shed some light on spate irrigation in Sudan.
I am particularly interested in the recession agriculture practiced at the banks of the Blue Nile in Sudan; hopefully similar useful feedbacks would come on this!

In my country, Ethiopia, farmers use the residual moisture of seasonally flooded lands when the floods recede to grow crops that mature quickly. This is also happening at the source of the Blue Nile River, Lake Tana. It contributes somehow to livelihood of subsistence farmers.
Regarding GERD, I think Sudan will benefit a lot from GERD than it might be affected from the possible reduction of recession agriculture you mentioned due to the following reasons:
1) As the water is stored in colder place than Sudan, evaporation loss will be reduced and more water will be available for all Riverian countries.
2) Sudan will get regular year round water flow. In this case the farmers will engage in irrigation agriculture than in recession agriculture.
3) Sudan's dams will not be filled with silt and debris coming from the highlands of Ethiopia. In this case the cost of dam clearing Sudan is spending will be significantly reduced.
4) Sudan will not be affected by the seasonal flooding as it happened this year in Khartoum.
5) Sudan will get cheap electric power from Ethiopia.
6) GERD will strengthen the friendship among Nile Riverian countries. By this, I kindly invite you to visit Lake Tana, Blue Nile and its Shore city, Bahir Dar where I live in.
