I've never done this, but I understand that the podocyturia is defined as ratio: number of podocytes over creatinine in a urine sample (like proteinuria). The determination of podocytes is made by identification of specific podocytes markers.
Possibly via detection of podocyte specific proteins in urin, such as synaptopodin, podoplanin, nephrin in the sample. E.g. via ELISA, FACS or mybe WB.
