Sure, i'm using magnetite ( black iron oxide powder Fe3O4 or iron oxide (II, III).
I need to make a colloidal system in dodecane and mineral oil (different systems, one in dodecane and the other in mineral oil), but the dispersant agents that i've used, are not working and the mineral keeps precipitating. I've used tween 20, span 20, span 80 and lauric acid.
The formulation used is 5% magnetic solids, 10% surfactant, and 85% carrier (dodecane and mineral oil as carrier).
ok, i'm only workind with black iron oxide powder Fe3O4 , i pour this powder in the surfactant (the dispersant agent) at 90C to improve the solution. afterwards, i lay all that solution in mineral oil, and the same solution (black iron oxide and the surfactant) in dodecane, and stir. at the beginning it seems to work, but after 45 min aprox. the minreral (black iron oxide powder) precipitates at the bottom of the carrier (mineral oil and dodecane).
so, my problem is to find a dispersant agent of black iron oxide in mineral oil and dodecane, but i've not found info about it,
