SWOT analyses are based on data, measurements, and results, both internal and external, depending on the operation carried out by the company and the market where it is located... and are usually accompanied by a CAME matrix.
If the student has measured its performance, has access to the market trends that interest him most, and can influence it, the SWOT analysis will undoubtedly help him/her.
But if it is done only based on what is believed or intuited, two things can happen:
If the analysis is done by the student, it is very likely that it contains a good dose of subjectivity, which can direct his efforts more toward what he/she wants than towards what he/she should.
If the analysis is done by a third party, there is a risk of presenting biases, for any reason (social, family, emotional, religious...) that can direct the student's efforts to what the analyst believes and not to what he or she should.
SWOT analysis aids students in identifying their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats when choosing a major or career path. It aids in making informed decisions about which path aligns with their skills and interests and helps them make strategic choices about future challenges.
