When I was synthesized poly(vinyl acetate) through emulsion polymerization technique using PPS/ SLS/ Sodium bicarbonate and colloidal solution reaction time 5 hr result well a milky emulsion but that emulsion did not stable separate after 30 days.
so how to make a good emulsion with stability .
You will have to prepare a pre-emulsion surfactant, water and the total of the monomer. Put 10% of the preemulsion with 20 parts of water total in the reactor and heated to the temperature of reaction (70° C) place 10% of the total number of initiator solution and wait 30 minutes at the same temperature, once the temperature reached start continuous dosage of the rest of the preemulsion and the initiator for 3 Hrs. Once the dosage increases the temperature to 80° C and wait 1 hour at this temperature.
