After a 8-week high fat diet, a higher level of HDL was detected? How could this happen? Significant cytoplasmic vacuoles were observed in the liver slices strained with H&E. Could anyone try to explain it?

LDL-C level in the same sample
Total Cholesterol in the same sample

Thanks a lot for your reply. The HDL and LDL levels of mice were detected using the automatic biochemical analyzer in the hospital. Higher levels of LDL and total cholesterol, compared with that in the control group were detected. All other indices including liver color and liver slices were reasonable except the HDL level.

HDL level is also higher in my HFD feeding mice. It is not strange I think although I do not know how to explain it.
Your finding has been previously reported by other authors. i.e.:
