I suggest using the so-called Watts-Bath:
300 g/L NiSO4*6H2O
45 g/L NiCl2*6H2O
45 g/L H3BO3
which has pH=4.5.
I have taken it from Navas, IEEE Trans. Magn. 42, 3057 (2006),
doi: 10.1109/TMAG.2006.880144 They deposited Ni onto a Au electrode at 35 ºC for 10 min with a current density of 1 mA/cm2, and they obtained a film with thickness about 200 nm.
