Improving processes, waste segregation technology is a key problem that should also be studied scientifically.
Research should create technological improvements and ecological innovations to also reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
This is important because the warming of the Earth's climate is already recognized as an irrefutable fact by many scientific centers.
It has also been shown that man is most responsible for this unfavorable warming of the Earth's climate.
In view of the above, I believe that the improvement of waste segregation technology is one of the most important components of the integrated process of sustainable pro-ecological economic growth based on the concept of green economy?

Refining takes resources and produces pollution. Recycling (may) take fewer resources and there is less pollution.
Recycling paper reduces the number of trees cut for pulp. Forests sequester carbon, release oxygen.
Landfills cover large areas with biologically less productive areas. I can have a 10 acre forest, or a 10 acre landfill with a few weeds. Which one is more ecosystem friendly?
Landfills often are a source of toxins. Battery recycling, e-waste
Landfills release methane which is a greenhouse gas.
Just a few that come to mind, but I am assuming that garbage segregation is just another name for recycling.
Segregation of paper, metal, plastic and glass simply ensures re-usability through recycle. For instance, plastic waste that has other components (mostly wet wastes) becomes irremediable thereby landing up in dump yards. If instead we are able to recycle all of our plastic, we drastically bring down our production and overall load on the environment. A simple exercise of segregation at our doorsteps has many environmental as well as societal impacts.
