How can Offset cancellation be performed in capacitance-voltage measurement using Agilent E4980A precision LCR meter?

Recently I am in need of measuring the capacitance and impedance of my device using Agilent E4980A precision LCR meter. But due to the effect of wires in probe-station the capacitance and impedance are getting unexpected values. I have found in internet there is a method to cancel this offset capacitance. It is named as "Open-Short correction" but not elaborately discussed. Can someone kindly discuss this method in detail?

Open circuit cancellation means zeroing the base capacitance just before connecting the LCR meter to your sample. Almost LCR meters have this option.
