There are basically two main areas where ML & AI can be applied in the current COVID-19 event and all similar ones: prevention & treatment.
Prevention includes an understanding of viral function, its interaction with the host, and spreading.
Treatment includes an understanding of the function of the virus itself and the management of the treatment itself. More specifically, there are existing treatments that put patients in danger: hydroxychloroquine
& azithromycin, chloroquine.
Those treatments prolog the QT interval on ECG recordings which means that repolarization of the heart cardiomyocytes gets highly impaired.
This puts patients in danger of deadly Torsades de Pointes arrhythmia, VT, and VF.
A complexity measure and ML methods using an algorithm was developed to predict such dangerous arrhythmias.
