I have ordered a drug, prostaglandin F2a, and I would like to know that I have received the drug I ordered. What can I do to test and verify that it is what I ordered?
I don't believe I have the necessary resources to test this, and I also don't specialize in chemistry. Are there places I can send a sample and have them do the test? I don't suppose I could send a sample to anyone here who could verify the authenticity?
Please let me know how I can test or where I can send my sample to have it tested.

Well, I don't know the actual quality control method for prostaglandin but there sure is literature about it. Check the pharmacopoeias, which are books containing technical and official information regarding such controls. On the other hand, their probably is a laboratory near to you that offers such services, may it be in an university or a private lab.
This material is sensitive to both heat and light. Requesting a COA is a good idea but the material may have degraded after the COA was issued. The Merck Index says it is stable for two years in light resistant containers at 5-15 degrees C. The USP does not list it. Unless you have experience with it, it is definitely not a do-it-yourself project.
Always buy from reliable and ISO 9001 certified companies. For pharma i think certfication should be GMP/cGMP. CoA supplied with material usually mentions test method. Ask your supplier how to get it tested and any third party lab that can test it by paying the fee.
Please ask the supplier for COA and as per COA otherwise as per monograph perform any identifiaction test or send it to any authorised laboratory for test..

Follow the Standard Pharmacopeia tests.
Check for UV absorption first, because IR will now give you full confirmation and go for its assay as per the pharmacopeia standards.
Then see the Certificate of analysis the have provided to you. Is it match or not. If it is under 5% variation its acceptable otherwise send them back and ask for wrong supply. If it is so.
