How can I separate rubber (EPDM) from metal? The rubber is bonded to the metal with adhesive and vulcanized. I want to free the metal from the rubber.
Dip it in xylene solvent and if possible apply heat to 50 degreeC. The swelling of rubber will loosen the bond. With little mechanical force the rubber can be separated. In case 50 degree C is not enough, heat to higher temperature (120C)

How long should I keep it in the xylene chemical? Also, I'll try 50 degrees Celsius first. Would 5 minutes at 50 degrees be sufficient? Or do I need to keep it there longer?
No. You have to check and if not loosened enough you continue for 15,30,60 min until there is sufficient swelling. If you do not want to check and continue. Keep it for 1h and hopefully you will be able to separate.
Are these times for your specifications the waiting time in the chemical? Or the preparation waiting time?
I'm thinking of doing it like this; I'll try it in the chemical for half an hour. Then I'll keep it at 50 degrees for another half hour.
