When fungi is used to pretreat the lignocellulosic biomass, the mycelial mat is grown over it. It has to be separated from the mat so that the substrate can be used for further bioconversion steps. How is it done?
As I know, I don't think the mass can be separated from the solid substrate as we later inactive it for example for the production of bio-compost! It could also increase the nutrition value of the solid matter, too! I just know that if we want to find about the biomass growth and kinetic, we have to use glucoseamin method to determine it.
