If I modelled 4 layers of any composite laminated plate as a shell elements in Abaqus and I am interested to see the values of the stresses at each ply, so how can I do that?
To see stresses in each ply first you should create laminated composite by "Create Composite Layup". After that, choose your composite in Domain of field output. Now you can see stresses in each ply. By click on Results and Section Points, you can see stresses in each ply in Visualization module.
You might want to try SwiftComp which can power ABAQUS conventional plate/shell element with high-fidelity composites modeling capability so that composites can be modeled as easy as metals. It can give you the most accurate stress for each layer based on a regular abaqus plate analysis. The code can be launchd in the cloud at https://cdmhub.org/resources/scstandard. A convenient ABAQUS-SwiftComp was also developed for making the job easy and SwiftComp acts as an internal plugin for ABAQUS. The interface can be downloaded at https://cdmhub.org/resources/1134.
