I have a problem with orientation nodes of beam element in ANSYS.
My Structure:
- 3D Structure (Every node have 6 DOF)
- 12 Beam Elements
- 13 Nodes
- 2 Fixed supports at the edges
- After boundary conditions 11 node x 6 DOF = 66 DOF
This is the theoretical background of my structure. However, ANSYS WB is adding orientation nodes to the structure that makes my structure have more DOF than 66 DOF. I want to inactivate orientation node option of ANSYS WB for beam element.
- How can I do that?

- Is there another way to setup this structure same as in beam theory in ANSYS WB?
Orientation nodes do not take part to the solutions! What kind of beam did you choose?
Beam188 element. I import the structure matrices from ANSYS, the structure matrices (C,M,K) are 138 DOF instead of 66 DOF because of orientation nodes.
I suggest you to do a test with a single beam problem, checking the number of nodes defined, keyopts (1 and 3 for example) etc,..
