I have a shell, cut by a pipe (a thinner shell). I want to remove the intersecting region to make a hole. I have modeled it in Abaqus. I could make the hole by using the remove face option for some pipes. But from the third one, Abaqus is selecting the whole shell instead of selecting the hole part alone. Can somebody help me.
Have you tried using the pipe to partition the shell?
You could merge both parts in the assembly module to create a new part and use the "retain intersection boundaries" option. Then all intersection lines will act as partitions.

When I am trying to cut from a plane at some height, it cuts the pipe at some places as it is not accurate. I want to know how to select a that particular region. When I am trying to select it, the whole shell is being selected.

Thanks a lot Ahmad. But u have shown a rectangular plane. If it is a redan (curved) portion, is it posible to draw a circle on the redan surface and extrude cut?
