I wanna to ask about color absorbance by UV spectrophotometer.
How can I measure raw livestock wastewater color with UV Spectrophotometer when it doesn't show any maximum wave value? I diluted and filtered the solution and then put it into the UV spect in the range of 180-1000 . The result showed me a ascent manner in the ranges below 1 (from 1000 to 300 nm), then the graph rose immediately up to 4 (!!) and was constant to the end of scanning.
What should i do?! Please kindly advice me.

Please give infos about your spectrometer (single , dual beam .... and what a kind of cuvettes are you using?
See the cutoff of water and the cutoff of your cuvettes (if no quartz).
You must make a TLC of you coloured wastewater prior UV-Vis spectrum.
Yo must give more details about your wastewater and your dilution.

Thank you for your attention to my question. The UV-Vis Spect is SPEKOL with single beam and I use 3.5 mL glass cuvettes.
The diluted filtered wastewater is adopted from cow livestock plant and i diluted it with (1/100) dilution ratio. Moreover it was a little turbid when I put it into the Spect.
By the way, I couldn't understand your words about TLC test of wastewater. Please give me more information if it's possible.

Thank you for answer concerning the spectrometer and cuvettes. Are you using quartz cuvettes or glass cuvettes(Glass has another cutoff than quartz)?

Have you the possibility to do TLC (Thin Layer Chromatography)? you need a chamber, silicagel sheets or plates and capillar tubes for the sample spot on the plates.

On other part, in what a place are you taking your wastewater sample(s). The turbidity of your sample must be cleared.
