I'm trying to make a hydrophilic silicone polymer. I've made silicone by crosslinking PDMS-Vinyl terminated monomer with PDMS-trimethylsiloxy monomer and would like to know if there are other polymers that can be added to this silicone to make it hydrophilic. I've looked into polyethylene oxide, but since I don't have a strong background in polymer or organic chemistry I am having a difficult time trying to determine if such a reaction between my silicone material and the polyethylene oxide is possible. And if it is, how would I go about it?

just have a look into this doctoral thesis: vinylated-PEG-monomers are easy to prepare and the components only have to be combined with solvents like iso-propanol. Thus no phase separation takes place. I do it myself and it really works very well!

The simplest way to make the surface of ready PDMS product hydrophylic, is to spray/immerse the product in 1% hexane solution of APTES ((3-Aminopropyl)triethoxysilane), and leave it overnight for hexane evaporation and chemical reaction of APTES (demands small amount of water present in the air). Works perfectly and is very simple, coating is chemically bond to the surface. Surface contains amine groups.
To make silicone hydrophilic introduce some polar groups in it.
Ya Dr Tomasz suggested good route to hydrophilized the PDMS.You can also use another silica based precursor which has -OH group or -NH2 group.We can add this precurosor during preparation of film or as cross-linker for Hydroxy terminated PDMS.
