To tell the truth, I have never used Eclipse in my reservoir modelings, but I know that students use IPM products to link some softwares such as Matlab and Ecelipse.

Of course, I myself simply linked CMG outcomes ( using excel) with my Matlab program. To do so, I used the following code in my Matlab script.

xlsread( filename , sheet , xlRange , 'basic' )

If Ecelipse has an excel outcome, you can do the same action as I did.

PVTi is a software that is different from Eclipse. Yes, you can perform the analysis and export the data to Eclipse or Excel. Once the data is exported in the form of .txt you can import that to Matlab and/or copy that and paste it in excel and use the command: xlsread. Good luck

As Khaldoon mentioned, 1) PVTi is part of SLB ECLIPSE suite of software but different from what most people refer to when talking of ECLIPSE. 2) There is no other way than relying both for input and output from PVTi onto files (typically txt). I am a bit rusty with PVTI but I am not sure that you can actually automate what you want to do in PVTi to build an automated optimization loop where MATLAB governs the overall process. From memory PVTi is very much scroll and click not macro geared.

You can manipulate the .DATA file using "includes" and just coding the input text files.

For running the simulator use: system(['eclrun',' eclipse ', FILE]);

For reading output use the binary reader from Matlab:

For Eclipse (E100, frontsim or E300) you can run their .data associated files from Matlab using the following function: !eclrun.exe -v your_version e300 file.

You can also develop some scripts for generating automatically your data files according to your optimization problem (such as well placement, history matching ...), thenyou can run them directly from Matlab and extract their results.

However, for PVTi, there isn't a direct command for running it from Matlab.
