I am doing a study involving prediction of frictional generation. Coupled temp-displacement seems to work fine. However, I have run short of reasons to justify the use of this analysis.

What do you mean ideas to justify? What is the standard way of heat generation modeling?
@marcin, thanks for the response. Yes, I mean ideas to justify use of coupled-temperature analysis step in the Abaqus FEA. Heat transfer is normally used. But in my case, no contact heat was generate by modeling using this type. Please advice.
1) You mean coupled thermo-displacement formulation?
2) Is heat generating from the mechanical friction, e.g. one steel element is moving with friction over the other one?

So, only from contact there is no reason to generate heat. You have to add some extra propertis to the constitutive model of interface to obtain heat from friction. I was not modelling such phenomena, but I think it is possible.
@marcin, what do you think can justify the use of coupled temperature-displacement step analysis abaqus FEA? I need to justify why I can use this step.
