How can i investigate the relationship between fire activity and SST oscillation?? Which model is it better to use??

I'm working with MODIS active fire and burned area over the west Africa and i've already highlighted the predictability of burned area and active fire in different timescales (interannual, multi-year and monthly) using MODIS NDVI times series and Fire Weather Index components.

Now i'm trying to investigate the relationship between fire activity and SST pattern over west Africa.
