We used to have 4 cats in our home garden but unfortunately 3 of them died recently. Besides what they managed to eat, we also gave them more tasty foods including hot dogs. After a good "salty" meal, the cats usually drink a good amount of water from an easily accessible bowl.

I own two gentle tom cats, who are on a hypocaloric diet, because they have grown too fat (one weights 8Kg...) As I know that tom cats usually tend to develop urinary problems, I am very careful with their drinking water.
The first thing I do, every morning , is to fill their two bowls with fresh water. apart from that, they have a water fountain, that filters permanently, and which is great fun, because they enjoy playing with the pouring water.
Also, in the 6 warmer months of the year, I add a few ice cubes to the water tray, and they enjoy playing with the ice cubes, and I am certain that these silly water games that I prepare for them, also act as a reminder that they should drink water.
The secret with cats is that they are in general joyful and playful, and so, whenever I want them to do certain things, I invent games or pleasurable mind traps.
(You need to be a sort of cat-person, yourself, to get along with cats!)

What an interesting question: I might even find out how to get my cat to drink more water!
Gentlemen, definitely after a high protein diet / highly carbs diet cat is going to drink more but feeding them with high class diet to have them drink more is not an option. Thats why only thing remains a good management and i have found giving them small quantities of water but several times a day would make them drink more.
As I see cats like more milk than water. In India, people used to serve milk and other eatables. Serve water in a bowl, cats take when they feel like.
Give them wet food! So they can eat their water! There are publications showing that cats do not drink enough to fulfill their requirements even with all the good will of their owner to make water pleasant. So giving both wet & dry food everyday is the best solution. For health and also for pleasure!
Water fountains help. The availability of drinking bowls in different areas of their environment is also important especially in a cat colony.

What do you mean by 'difficulties' in the statement "A small group of cats have some difficulties to drink water". Are there any clinical symptoms that supports the assumption, some cats might have critical water intake? What's about assessing skin turgor, hematocrit, urine and blood chemistry to start with? If you're done with assessment you can make informed decisions.
I've already learned some interesting things about cats and drinking water. Last night while my wife and I were floating around in our pool (in the dead of winter in Arizona and had it heated to a toasty 92F--more a giant jaccuzzi than swimming pool this time of year--we noted our cat Sammy drinking from the chorinated pool as if the filtered water we provide him is not good enough!
Keep bowl full of water, cat will take when the cat will desire. Forcefully we can't.
Yes, it seems the cats have a mind of their own. We give the cat water in a bowl where he eats, but he prefers the big bucket of water where the dog drinks or the swimming pool, anywhere but where he is meant to drink. But overall, he seems to drink more than our past cats have and is a beautiful specimen of health. He was born in the wild (ferrel) and has bonded with everyone in our family well.

Cat prefers milk than water in early ages. you can replace cows milk for it if you can not provide cats milk. im sure it eats very good
If the cat is not taking water specifically, add some water in milk.
