I perform an axi-symetric simulation of a buoyant bubble beneath a free surface. The bubble rises and coalesces with the free surface because of buoyancy.

I need the bubble to reach its terminal velocity before bouncing on the interface. However, it is computationally very costly to make the bubble reach its terminal velocity because the mesh needs to be very fine close to the flat interface.

My question is : it possible to impose to the bubble its terminal velocity as an initial condition to the simulation?

The bubble interface is captured with a level set method, and the simulation is performed on a cartesian grid.

Thank you a lot,

Omer
