Hi, Everyone. I am a PhD student and I need some data about fake news from twitter or any other platform that has available data. Can you please let me know how I can find data?
Recent studies propose interventions along two lines: empowering individuals to evaluate potential fake news they encounter; and structural changes to stop or minimise exposure to such ‘news.’ As i would like to break those down a bit further, into:
(1) educating the public
(2) analysing and curtailing the spread
(3) performing manual checking
(4) performing automatic fact-checking and classification
I agree that this is a problem that requires an interdisciplinary approach.
Maybe it will be interesting to you to read an interesting research form Forbes Magazine regarding Fake News: https://www.forbes.com/sites/niallmccarthy/2019/06/12/where-concern-is-highest-about-fake-news-on-the-internet-infographic/#6b234d7d6629
Ariful Islam Thank you so much for your complete explanation. Actually I want to work on the spreading on the fake news in twitter. I need a data set that can give me information about a fake news that has spread before for instance in twitter to see the trend of spreading of that by people.
Hi Maryam. I collected data set through our own crawler based on the features. We repeatedly visit different profiles to gather information related to fake news.
In September 2018, Google has issued "Google Dataset Search Engine"; it allows researchers from different disciplines to search, locate, and download online datasets that are freely available for use from different application domains.
It could be remarked that, this search engine is still beta version; you may not find all the datasets, but alt least it facilitates the task of finding suitable datasets.
