What are the level of measurements of moderating and mediating variables? Categorical or scale?. The analysis depends on it. If it is a scale variable, in the case of moderating effect, you must prepare a moderating variable by combining predictor and moderator.
In multiple regressions, the regression equation which includes an interaction can be depicted as follows.
Y = β0 + β1X1 + β2 (X1×X2) where X2 is the moderator.
If the β2 coefficient for the term (X1×X2) is statistically significant, it can be interpreted as a significant interaction between X1 and X2 or the relationship between X and Y is moderated by X2.
IBM® SPSS® Amos enables you to specify, estimate, assess and present models to show hypothesized relationships among variables. The software lets you build models more accurately than with standard multivariate statistics techniques. Users can choose either the graphical user interface or non-graphical, programmatic interface.
