I measured BET of few layered graphene.But, it is giving very low specific area around 8-10 m2/g only. Before BET measurement is there any process required for materials..?
The sample should be dried completely so that no water molecule should present in between the layers.
Did you use an oxidation process to create your graphene? Run a TGA to check if you have fully reduced the material. If not, do thermal reduction in inert atmosphere or Ar/Hydrogen, then measure again.
I prepared GO by using Hummers method, followed reduction by Microwave irradiation subsequently sonication for graphene then i measured BET.
Mr. Kumar, based on your further description of your process, there are two things to try: 1) look closely at your process for separating graphene from liquid after sonication. (spray dry or freeze dry) 2) After removing liquid, do a thermal reduction in inert atmosphere. The suggested thermal reduction temperature is 600 - 1500 deg C, for > 2 hours. You may want to do an exfoliation step. (rapid thermal shock) prior to reduction.
