I'm trying to grow a confluent layer of epithelial cells on a filter, then would like to disperse the layer off the membrane. I don't want individual cells to disperse, I want the cell-cell junctions as intact as possible.

As I understand it, trypsin + EDTA breaks down both, the EDTA chelates calcium and releases the adherens junctions while the trypsin takes care of the focal adhesions.

I'm assuming there's a bit less specificity with just trypsin than I'd like.

I'm having trouble finding a chemical or method that will give me lifted sheets of epithelial cells. Any suggestions?
