I have obtained a Tafel plot from CV experiment for the oxidation of nitrite (NaNO2). Scan rate- 0.05 V/s, working electrode- GCE, counter electrode- Pt wire, reference electrode- Ag/AgCl (3M), Nitrite concentration- 0.5 mM, supporting electrolyte- 0.1 M PBS. I have attached the CV and Tafel plot figures.

Although CV plot is showing the oxidation peak around 0.9 V, the Tafel plot for the positive potential scan shows the characteristic Tafel pattern at around 0.05 V. While for the negative potential scan, it shows the Tafel pattern around 0.77 V.

Can anyone please explain that how I can interpret this behavior for nitrite oxidation? Also, which Tafel region should I use for determining the anodic overpotential of nitrite oxidation?
