To calculate the platymeric and platybrachial indexes, I need to observe the antero-posterior and medio-lateral diameter of the femur and the humerus. How can I determine the mid-diaphysis in bones without epiphysis?
Hi Jimmy, it is the same way that for complete fused bone (if the diaphysis is complete). The middle remain at the middle.

Hi Jimmy, I would also use the proximal and distal diaphyseal expansions. Even if the trochanter or head are not yet fused, you can still determine directionality. I refer you to Chapter 4 in Buikstra and Ubelaker's "Standards for Data Collection from Human Skeletal Remains" (1994) that specifically deals with immature remains. Good luck!
