I'm interested to start a fMRI study focusing on a group of professionals with special expertise. It's very difficult to recruit them. Just interested to about the smallest sample size possible for a study on the DMN of the brain at resting state.

Hi Jimmy! Theorically you can observe DMN also in a single subject analysis, however for a group analysis a minimum of 15-20 subjects is needed. Moreover, more subjects you include higher accuracy you can reach!

I think you need at least 20 subjects for group level analysis which you can get the best generalization and valid data. But you can also perform a case report study, for example in 3 case. I see it's difficult to recruit a larg sample size, Cause of this issue in my research.
