I want to know how GAP element can be defined in abaqus.
I already know that GAP element is not supported directly from the GUI so i have to edit the keyword but i don't know how.

In my study, I used different contact method instead of GAP element for facet joints. For them, the facet modeling method of exponential force transfer between the nodes according to an initial gap size was used. In this contact definition, the contact pressure on the facet joint surface varies exponentially according to the distance between the joint surfaces. The maximum contact pressure that may occur between the surfaces was defined to be equal to the modulus of elasticity of the surrounding bone.
This file can be used as an example. You would need to know the node numbers to be connected. Use any unused numbers as element numbers for GAP element referencing. I was having a problem controlling its stiffness, so dropped the idea of using it. If you get to know that, please share.
I am trying to model the non-linear elastic impact element between two frames. I am using axial connecter element in Abaqus to model the same. I am defining elastic behavior and reference length in connecter. But IMPACT force I am getting is less than what it should be. Can anyone please tell me what mistake in modelling I am making?
