I am trying to model a human heart in Ansys but I am having issues importing a usable file. The model is fairly complex with many faces so I am not able to simply convert the STL using SolidWorks. I have also tried using FreeCAD but it did not work as my STL file is not a shell. Is there a different program I can use to convert the STL into an IGES or STEP file? Or perhaps theres a way to directly go from Amira to Ansys? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can use ScanTo3D plugin in Solidworks to open, edit and convert your .stl file into a surface or a solid model.
You can also simplify your complex model and merge faces of the model.

you can use spacecalim. after opening the geometry of your model, you can save as with intended formats you want. spaceclaim can open any format of geometry and save format consist of vast geometry format.
you should open this model in CAD software like solidworks, then regenerate model with tools in CAD software. then save new solid model with the format which you need in ansys workbench such as x_t or STEP
