Hello all,

I am an undergrad engineering student and I am deciding to conduct a non-destructive tensile test on a Roll Wrapped Twill Finish Round Tube to measure sample elastic young modulus.

However, I have to first come up with a method of implementing appropriate end conditions to the sample before assembling to MTS machine to get more accurate strain result.

I was told for one potential scenario that instead of clamping the outer surface to MTS, it is better to make a hole at both ends of the composite tube and pass a bolt through, which is subsequently attached to MTS machine. The Applied MTS force would affect all matrix and fibers inside the tube, yielding for more accurate result.

I am not quit sure how valid this hypothesis is, but if there are other possible methods of attaching sample ends, i would be glad to hear from your experience.

Kind Regards
