How can I coat a spinel structure (Mn-based cathode mateirals) with Al2O3?

I already know about mixing sol, prepared by aluminum salt (Aluminium chloride or nitrate) with active material powder. I am concerned about protecting Mn ions from reducing during mixing with sol with the low pH.
