Would it be appropriate to do an extraction with a non-polar solvent system such as chloroform and hexane (to get rid of oils, pigments, etc) before hydrolyzing my plant samples for AA analysis? I haven't seen a precedent for this in the literature. Most researchers seem to go ahead and hydrolyze their dried samples without any prior cleanup
