when i modeled non- flat interface cohesive joint i found in visualization module of ABAQUS CAE that orientation of cohesive element(which define by defult by abaqus and i not define it from property module) is not true.now i want to know how i can change this material orientation default
I read that behavior of cohesive elements are different in out of plane and in plane directions. can you please elaborate me on the importance of stack orientation in cohesive elements
Mr Arunachalm i found the answer of question many time ago.In cohesive element there are 3 mode for crack propagation. one normal mode and two shear mode in Abaqus you should define true stack orientation for this purpose. because the mechanical behavior of cohesive element completely depend on stack orientation of cohesive element. in fact cohesive element like orthotrope material have different property in each direction and you need to specify direction for cohesive element in abaqus by definition stack orientation
Thanks Fayyaz, but for 2D analysis, Is the sweep mesh direction similar to stack orientation??? & the directions always should be from bottom cohesive to top cohesive layer???

2d planar stack orientation is equal with sweep path of mesh you can see mesh stack from query and top of the element is same with orientation of sweep path,the just rule is that the bottom or top surface or both of them shuld bond to solid element

I am facing the same problem at the curved region for cohesive elements. It always gives me Error: The node numbering might not be correct......

Are you facing with this error in Abaqus? please send the exact error message may I can help you, I used cohesive for curved region in abaqus with any problem. So its applicable at least in Abaqus, but i am not sure about the accuracy of the using cohesive zone model in curved region yet!
This is not working at all for me!!!! The S22 direction for the COH4D2P elements is all wrong!!! It coincides with the S11 of the reservoir. And no matter how many times, I change the stack orientation and datum orientation, the location of the integration points and the mid-nodes are always always all the time coming up wrong.
How can I fix this?
