I have done Time Series Analysis on MODIS Terra data for Hotspot Change observation. Now, for time series data authentication, I need to calculate the Land Surface Temperature (LST) using Landsat-8 data. Is Split Window (SW) a better technique for the same, or is any other technique available for LST retrieval?
Split-window (SW) algorithms may be the appropriate method, although single-channel (SC) algorithms can also finish this work. With mean errors typically below 1.5 K for both SC and SW algorithms.
Mono-window algorithm developed by Qin et al. 2001 can be a good method. You can refer to the following papers for more details:

A minor follow on:
The split window algorithm may not be used on Landsat 8 until further notice by USGS because band 11 shows higher uncertainties. You may limit your analysis to the use of band 10 only. Also please follow the notifications provided by USGS as even band 10 needs some adjustment especially over water bodies.
