Hello all, I have modeled planner Kagome lattice with half width initiation edge crack, I applied load and get the max. stress equal to modulus of rupture of the lattice material. Can anyone suggest how to calculate fracture toughness of Kagome lattice using the results of Abaqus model?
As far as I know, It is not possible to calculate fracture toughness by Abaqus. It is a material property, right???
You can get the crack displacement in front and the stress at the behind of the crack tip and calculate the energy release rate G using VCCT technique.
G=k^2/E
The Mode I FT, KIc, It is a material property . . . see ASTM E399 for test method; depending on the material, it may be more apporpraite to use an R-curve (or tearing modulus, T, if fully plastic)

experimental test.
