Also how does one obtain absorption coefficient when only powdered sample was used?
Without "a" , I cannot plot direct transition against wavelength to calculate band gap.

But there is another problem arose today.
The UV-VIS (Cary 5000,, agilent tech.) n diffuse reflectivity mode shows %R at 20% region at highly reflective blank sample where it should be 100% %R during baseline correction. Same blank sample was measured normally yielded 100% %R but not for its baseline correction.
We checked software settings and everything seems fine. We cannot figure what went wrong.

UV-Vis Cary 5000 , agilent technology
Solid sample attachment (Reflectance mode)
If I have multiple straight line in (F(r)hv)^1/2 vs hv plot, then can I find out multiple band gap of the sample? @Soong Leong Sim, @Roberto Koferstein
