Wavelength is small compared to the particle size!
For Mie theory: Extinction paradox, the scattered power is larger than the power incident on the drop.
Experimental setup: Water drop is injected at varying distances between transmitter and receiver (photodiode energy meter). The distance between transmitter and receiver is 1m.
Is there any software/equation available to accurately calculate the scattered intensity/power?

Just a small query. Since you have mentioned in your question that the drop size are in millimeter range and you are impinging light having wavelength somewhere in the range 700nm to 1000nm. Why would be there be any Mei scattering ? We are working on similar concepts of light scattering by water droplets and that to in the same size range. As far as the principle goes, we need not be worrying about Mei scattering. Apart from that, if you want to measure the attenuation of the light intensity just measure the incident amount of light with and without the presence of droplet in the light path. This would provide you with sufficient quantification.

Thank you for your reply. I have previously calculated the scattering for electromagnetic waves in millimeter range (e.g. of radar sensors). Therefore, I used the software MiePlot by Philip Laven.
I realized that the interaction between visible and near-infrared light and water drops in millimeter range lead to the Extinction paradox.
I performed measurements with and without water drop, but I want to validate the data and find a method for modeling the attenuation due to single water drop.
Since the particle size is much greater than the wavelength in this case, it seems to me you could just use some ray tracing program incorporating refraction, reflection and transmission.
Thank you for the answer. Can you recommend a software (ideally open source) to me ? It would be great to set the incident intensity/power and place the receiver to desired position.
