How can I calculate the amount of loss in the materials strength (the residual strength of the compressive strength of concrete fc and yield strength of steel) for any structural element under earthquake effect or multiple earthquake effects?
Using nonlinear static analysis (pushover) and by calculating the response modification factor (R), you can beautifully calculate the amount of strength drop of the whole structure.
We used Compression Testing Machine to study the strength and maximum load bamboo can withstand. there is software in the machine that calculates the maximum load at which the material will start blending and finally the weight at which it will collapse.
In my opinion, we can always use some non destructive test on the structure after earthquake or multiple effect of earthquake to determine the status of compressive strength and always can verify that with push over analysis by modifying the response factor.
