A thin ceramic plate of silicon carbide is impacted by a blunt cylindrical (4340 Steel) projectile. The plate is of the dimensions 100 mm x 100 mm x 10 mm. The steel projectile has a diameter of 30 mm and a length of 23 mm. the objective is to obtain damage/failure velocities in the thin ceramic target and finally draw a graph between damage velocity and projectile velocity.
Please suggest me an equation or any other method to find the damage front velocity for the said problem.The projectile velocity is ranging from 100 to 1000 m/s.
