Akta Pure limits the number of columns per system to 5 due to the C-valve. What is the best way to add more columns to the system?
I've heard of people using the loop valves to double the columns per system using a text method.

I never had to do it, but I suppose it's indeed possible with the multiple loop valve and a sample pump. You would have to switch into inject mode with the loop valve position set to the position where you got a column installed instead of a loop and keep the column valve on by-pass position. This way you can increase to 10 column. That shoul work! But you are limited to 8 samples still!

thanks for the specifics. I load >10 proA columns simultaneously using peristaltic pumps. The wash and elution occur on the Akta but it’s rather slow if I have to intervene every 5 columns.
So for setting up a method in UNICORN 7, I will set up the run in bypass mode for each loop valve. For a 5 CV column, I can wash with 25 mL in say, sample line 1 in PBS, then elution with say sample line 2, 35 mL (or whatever CVs). Each scouting run could be set up similarly with a different loop?
I will give it a shot probably Thursday. In which case, mAU peak capture might be a challenge to communicate but it should follow the same method workflow with an empty column space.
